Dear Supporters and Friends:
The 2013 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) will take place December 10-14, 2013, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention
Center, San Antonio, Texas, USA.
We are proud that SABCS continues to be the premier conference for basic, translational and clinical cancer research professionals to
present and discuss the latest breast cancer data from all over the world. The diligent efforts of our Program Planning Committee can be
seen in the preliminary program web pages.
The Symposium attracts thought-leaders, academic and private physicians and researchers, as well as other health care professionals
focused on curing breast cancer, to discuss and learn about new and late-breaking research including experimental biology, etiology,
prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of breast cancer and pre-malignant breast disease, as well as new findings from clinical trials. The
Symposium also attracts young investigators by providing superior education and training opportunities for the next generation of breast
cancer researchers. International attendance is a key component of the Symposium. More than half of our attendees come from more
than 95 different countries outside the USA.
Through this Symposium, your support has helped professionals from all over the world come together for an important exchange
of information. Your support has also enabled us to disseminate that information worldwide. Those of you who have worked with us
through the years are a positive force in the progress of breast cancer research and treatment. For all of this we are deeply and sincerely
grateful.
We invite you to take part in the 2013 Symposium with the same or even higher level of support. New corporate sponsorship
opportunities are offered this year. We hope that, whether you are a past supporter or new to SABCS, you will find a level of participation
that is comfortable for you and of mutual benefit to us all.
Prospective exhibitors will be happy to know that we have included unopposed exhibit hours in our schedule from Noon to 1:00 pm,
Wednesday through Friday.
We invite you to contact Rich Markow, Director, Symposia, at 210-450-1550 or MARKOW@uthscsa.edu regarding any questions. We
look forward to hearing from you very soon.
Sincerely,
 |

Advocate Program
The 16th Annual Advocate Program is sponsored by Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF), a non-profit 501[c]3 organization. This San Antonio-based grassroots advocacy, educational, and support organization was established for women and men with bre ast cancer and for those concerned about breast cancer issues. ABCF is active locally and nationally (as members of the National Breast Cancer Coalition) in their goal to eradicate breast cancer in our lifetime.
The 1st Annual Advocate Program was held in 1998, in conjunction with the 21st Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, as an educational program specially designed to address the needs of
patient advocates and those who support them. The program for 2013 will include Orientation, Dinner, Mentors Program, and Breast Cancer Update for the grant recipients. 40-50 travel grants are expected to be available for 2013, pending receipt of sufficient grant funds.
The administration of this program is handled entirely by Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation. Their 2013 proposal will be mailed to a select list in June, and we hope you will support their program in addition to the 2013 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
