Navigating Success: Ambition and Sustainable Career Growth for Women in STEM
Session Details
Building a successful career in medicine and science requires ambition, persistence, and dedication. But traditional definitions of success don’t always reflect the realities of women’s lives, and the path to professional growth is rarely as linear as we expect.
In this interactive workshop, clinical psychologist and executive coach Dr. Anne Welsh invites participants to rethink what success looks like and explore how to pursue meaningful career growth in ways that are both ambitious and sustainable. Drawing on psychology, research, and her work coaching women leaders, Dr. Welsh will examine the internal and external pressures that shape women’s careers, including perfectionism, competing responsibilities, and expectations about what professional success should look like.
Through guided reflection and small-group discussion, participants will clarify their own definitions of success, identify opportunities for growth, and develop practical strategies for navigating career decisions with greater confidence and intention. Participants will leave with a more expansive understanding of ambition and concrete next steps for building careers that reflect both their professional aspirations and their lives beyond work.
