The SABCS® Rising Stars Award Program includes a competitive application process with the aim of recognizing early career scientists and clinicians who are conducting impactful research in the field of breast cancer. The Executive Program Committee invites early-career basic scientists, physician scientists, and clinical investigators to apply for this scholarship opportunity to attend SABCS 2025. Winners participate in a session with other awardees and present their work as an oral presentation.

Applicants submit an abstract through the normal abstract submission process (deadline: July 9, 2025). An additional application for the Rising Star Award must be submitted (deadline: July 23, 2025).

Application Process

Applicants must currently be full-time employees at an academic institution at the level of assistant professor or equivalent and have submitted an abstract to SABCS 2025. All categories of submission are eligible except for clinical vignettes and ongoing clinical trials. Applicants must be the presenting author or senior author on the submitted abstract.

Applications consist of an extended abstract (up to 8,000 characters including spaces), a CV, and a letter of recommendation from a PI, department head, or another mentor who is familiar with the applicant’s work. Only complete applications are considered. All applications must be formatted into one PDF file and submitted via email to programdirectorsabcs@uthscsa.edu.

The application deadline was 11:59 PM CST on July 23, 2025. Late applications are not accepted.
