Patient Advocates

SABCS® welcomes attendance by informed patient advocates representing recognized patient advocacy, education & survivor support organizations.

Registration Category & Fees

The patient advocate registration category is reserved exclusively for patient advocates and is not intended for medical professionals. Individuals interested in registering under this category either work or volunteer for national not-for-profit patient advocacy organizations that demonstrate a charitable mission, engage in patient advocacy activities, provide support for people with cancer, have a nonprofessional membership, do not offer CME or scientific programs for professionals. In order to receive the complimentary registration, during the registration process advocates must upload an attestation or letter confirming their role as a patient advocate. Individuals registered under this category are not eligible to receive continuing education credit for their attendance.

Please note, registration for the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation Patient Advocate Program is distinct from the SABCS®, and requires a separate registration. For additional information about the ABCF Advocate Program please see below:

Patient Advocate Mentor Sessions

The Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation runs a grassroots advocacy program to eradicate the presence of breast cancer in our society.  Their mission is to end breast cancer by assisting patients, informing policymakers and expanding knowledge through education and community outreach.

Every year, Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation sponsors special mentoring sessions for patient advocates at SABCS®

Leading experts in the field of breast cancer provide commentary on symposium presentations and respond to advocates’ questions about the relevance of this scientific data.

Advocate Program

The Annual Advocate Program is sponsored by Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF), a non-profit 501[c]3 organization. This San Antonio-based grassroots advocacy, educational, and support organization was established for women and men with breast cancer and for those concerned about breast cancer issues. ABCF is active locally and nationally.

The 1st Annual Advocate Program was held in 1997, in conjunction with the 21st Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, as an educational program specially designed to address the needs of patient advocates and those who support them.

The administration of this program is handled entirely by Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation. Their 2024 proposal will be mailed to a select list, and we hope you will support their program in addition to the 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
